Dr. Anya Hurwitz has more than 25 years of experience in education as a teacher, school leader, and nonprofit executive dedicated to strengthening outcomes for multilingual learners. Before joining SEAL, she helped launch a small public secondary school in the Bronx and led a network of 24 diverse schools for the NYC Department of Education. Since becoming SEAL鈥檚 Executive Director in 2017, she has guided its growth into a statewide model for language-rich, student-centered education. SEAL is a nonprofit with a powerful research- and evidence-based approach to advancing the educational outcomes of multilingual learners. Dr. Hurwitz holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from UC Berkeley.

Dr. Proctor is a professor in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College, and chair of the Teaching, Curriculum, and Society department. He is a former 3rd and 4th grade dual language teacher and education specialist for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. At Boston College, he is a co-founder of the Bilingual Education Certificate program which prepares Massachusetts 糖心动漫vlog for bilingual education endorsement. His research focuses on multilingual literacy development, curriculum implementation and evaluation, and bilingual teacher education.
