This session looks at driving learning acceleration through student programs focused on social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices.

You will explore how to:

• Use social-emotional learning to design learning environments full of protective factors to help students stay regulated and engaged in learning
• Prioritize teacher-student relationships, school climate, and sense of belonging
• Help students understand the power they have to control their emotions in order to cultivate a learning-focused mindset
• Build capacity among trauma-informed ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog with resources from Wisconsin’s Trauma Sensitive Schools Initiative

Every day, thousands of students bring their traumatic experiences with them to school. By making ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog aware of students’ trauma and giving them tools and strategies to address it, barriers to learning can be reduced or removed–creating an environment for accelerated learning. Trauma-informed social-emotional learning practices—such as creating predictable routines and building supportive relationships—can help students build the skills they need to deal with toxic stress and overcome difficult life circumstances.
