announced Wednesday that Nathan R. Monell will serve as the organization鈥檚 new executive director.
Monell, who has more than two decades of experience heading nonprofits and associations, is the chief executive officer of the Washington, D.C.-based , the advocacy, technical assistance, and training organization for the federal GEAR UP program.
In a news release, Otha Thornton, president of National PTA, said Monell鈥檚 expertise in education and advocacy and his passion for ensuring children have the opportunity to reach their full potential will be an asset to the organization.
Monell will join National PTA in May prior to the Alexandria, Va.-based association鈥檚 annual convention which will be held June 25-29 in Charlotte, N.C. Monell replaces Joanne E. Dunne who has served as National PTA鈥檚 interim executive director since January 2014 while the association searched for a new executive director.
